This is one of the largest bowls I've ever owned. It's about 12" at the widest, about 11" at the rim, and close to 6" deep. Cliff Polychrome is a type of Salado with a few defining features. Notice the way the rim is slightly outflared, there's a design field on the inner rim at the top with diamonds and dots, then the solid "spirit line" (which is broken) below that, then a larger design field in the interior...those are Cliff Polychrome features. The main design could be bear paws, or rain clouds, or darn near whatever a person sees in it. The swirls and the hatchuring, the colors and symmetry are all Salado hallmarks. Cliff poly wasn't made for very long, 100 years between 1350-1450, and doesn't seem to be very common at all, and this is nice specimen with fire clouds and a presence that shows very well.
