Meet Akiko, the one-of-a-kind American Girl Japanese princess. Her name means "autumn's child".
She was created from a new Truly Me 84 American Girl doll. Her unique eyes are hand painted in glitter gold, copper, and umber tones. Acrylic paint was used to add feathered eyebrows, delicate eyelashes, pearl eyeshadow, shimmer blush, and rose shading with gloss to her lips. Although all paint has been sealed with Professional Liquitex, this doll should be handled gently.
Her luscious custom ebony wig has been permanently attached with waterproof craft contact adhesive, E6000. It is heat safe and tangle resistant. Gently wash, brush, and style just as you would an AG wig.
Akiko is wearing a traditional Japanese outfit, called a yukata, which is sewn of lovely cotton fabric featuring flowers and ribbons edged in gold on a cream background. The sash, or obi, is sewn as one piece fastened with Velcro in the back. It is adorned with a nylon cord and wooden bead. The waist is hemmed to appear that the yukata is shortened, just as life-size yukatas are made one size and adjusted for height. Her gold glitter flats slip on.
I have customized this doll in my smoke-free, pet-free studio. There may be light marks/shines/rubs on the vinyl from handling during customization. I have replaced the zip tie at her neck with a new neck string. Akiko will arrive with her own Artist's Certificate of Authenticity.
