    ITEM DESCRIPTION:
Here is a Beautiful Vintage Mid 20th Century Reproduction Circa 1950’s-60’s Hand-Colored Facsimile Engraving Map of Italy with Sicily, Sardinia and Corsica, titled “Carta Geografica Generale Dell’Italia”, after the 1750 map by the famous Venetian publisher & journalist ‘Giambattista (Giovanni Battista) Albrizzi’ (Italian, 1698-1777), which appeared in an Italian Edition of Salmon's Geography (Thomas Salmon). Albrizzi’s family was active in the book publishing and map selling in Venice for over 150 years. The Map was published by Edizioni Ponte Vecchio S.r.l. (Italian Publishing House, 1930-2012), Florence, Italy, which was founded in 1930 (Some sources state 1938) and who had one of the largest and oldest collections of art prints in the world. The company eventually went bankrupt in February of 2012 and had an auction to liquidate the business via auction January 2013 of about 1,000,000 various prints, paintings and engravings by various artists, frames of various types, mirrors, vases, terracotta, tables, display cases, as well as machinery and other equipment. One particular company by the name of the Trade General Fall snc (Terni, Umbria, Italy), a company operating in the Umbrian market of products derived from auctions and bankruptcies, bought up the remaining art prints and the partners Bobbi Luca & Alberto Gentili have been actively trying to negotiate & sell the entire collection. Circa the 1930’s-60’s, Edizioni Ponte Vecchio published reproductions of various maps, and ours is probably the latter part of the mid 20th century circa 1950’s-60’s. The acronym ‘S.r.l.’ in Italian stands for Società a Responsabilità Limitata, which is equal to the acronym Ltd. in English usage. Their abbreviated name, ‘Ediz. P.V.’, appears printed very tiny lower right in the image corner. ‘Printed in Italy’, appears stamped on the back next to the stamped inventory number, ‘803/5’. The Map is on a beautiful light-medium weight beige-colored wove paper stock (watercolor-like) with deckled edges on three sides. The Map is VeryGood-Excellent Rare+ condition for its vintage age with absolutely no color fade—wonderful hand-coloring! The size with wide margins is 12-1/8” x 17”,
    Plate size is 9” x 11-7/8”
, Image size is 8-3/16” x 11-1/16”. No tears! Minimal light scattered foxing specks here & there on the sheet which are hardly noticeable and not even really worth mentioning. A few tiny ink-offset specks here & there which were done at the time of printing. No real or significant toning of the stock from age. Extremely minimal slight tiny crescent-creasing here & there in the image area which are only noticeable from the back. Other slight small crescent-creasing here & there in the outer margin areas, along a few margin edges and tiny dog-ear creasing in a few outer margin corners—all of which are completely negligible since the outer margins can easily be matted & framed out. Minimal outer margin edge wear with some dents & dings here & there—also negligible This beautiful mid century reproduction map has never been framed which is always more desirable to collectors since it has never been exposed to older non-archival materials, matburn or lightfade.

: We exclusively use eBay's "SHIPPING CALCULATOR", which is built right into the auction page itself and is accessible at the top of the page via the 'See all details' or via the 'Shipping and payments' tab next to the 'Description' tab at the top of the page. You simply type in your Zip Code or choose your Country from the Drop-Down list provided & it displays the shipping amount for you. ***IMPORTANT NOTE*** Customs charges/fees & duty taxes are based on the final value amount of the item(s) that we are required by U.S. law to declare on Customs Forms before shipping the item. Under U.S. law we are unable to mark a smaller amount or to declare the item a gift, sample, or anything other than merchandise prints/paintings etc, so PLEASE DO NOT ASK. We are a respectable business & must transact our auctions honestly & by the law. We would be liable and would get in trouble if there were any complications. The value marked on the Customs form will be the final auction price for any or all prints/paintings & will not include shipping. Most items will be shipped rolled in a Heavy-Duty Tube to save on shipping costs. Some may be shipped flat/hardpacked at our discretion.

    EMAILING US:
eBayers, at all costs, please use eBay's email system only (no outside email addresses) to contact us with any questions you may have. eBay's email system GUARANTEES we get your email and more importantly, that you get ours. A lot of servers in the last few years have started using newer SPAM filters, and there have been a lot of problems with GOOD emails not getting through correctly, and being returned as undeliverable. We have had numerous problems in the past communicating with our eBayers outside of eBay because of it.
    COLLECTORS & DEALERS:
Please DO NOT email us (inside or outside of eBay's email system) with any offers to stop an auction early. It would not be fair to the rest of the eBay Worldwide community if we did that. THE HIGHEST BIDDER -OR- HIGHEST OFFER WINS IT!!!!!
Thank you from the Staff at Meibohm Fine Arts, GOOD LUCK & HAPPY BIDDING!!!
