⫸2004-11 EARTH AT NIGHT & WORLD MAP National Geographic ENERGY USAGE
While the earth sleeps, light glows across its surface visible from the vantage point of space. This study of light emission is a composite of satellite images from cloud-free nights gathered over the period of one year. The result is obvious, with the wealthier developed nations using a disproportionate amount of energy to their populations. It is believed that developing countries will increase their light use, but that the wealthiest countries may likely adopt lighting technology and actually decrease their light emissions and proportionate energy usage. The reverse-side of this study is a classic National Geographic world political map with insets showing language-families and population densities.
Map is approximately 22” x 36".
